My First Entry to the Last of a Great Songwriter

(Currently listening to Sondre Lerche-Stupid Memory)

The other day I attended the Ryan Adams concert at the Township.  It’s hard to believe that this could be the last time I will see him perform live.  It’s funny to me, but sometimes I remember certain phases of my life by the Ryan Adams album I was into.  It was interesting to see so many people have different connections to his music that night.  For me, it was just the music.  The performance was great and the whole night is going down in my memories as a good one.  (next track Radiohead-Reckoner)

I really don’t have much else to say about it other than that.  Despite the fact that his last two albums were dissapointments to me, I will miss his presence in the music community.  It’s easy to sort of write Ryan Adams off, but bands that emulate him are a dime a dozen.  It takes real talent to do the kind of music he does as well as he does.  I hope people never forget that.

(next track David Bowie/Queen-Under Pressure)

In random news that I think is interesting:

Thom Yorke and Jack White are collaborating apparently…I have no idea how it will sound like, but I couldn’t be more excited.  I’m pretty sure it will be amazing.  Also Jack White has another group that he plays drums for call the Dead Weathers.

I was introduced to Lisa Hannigan through the Colbert Report the other day and was pretty impressed.  In case anyone wonders who she is, she’s the lady who sang with Damien Rice.  Her album Sea Sew was a nice listen.

This isn’t interesting, but I felt compelled to let it be known that the new Decemberists album sucks.  No surprise there.  I miss the days when they were good.

(next track The White Stripes-Let’s Shake Hands)

Peace!
